Hey there... It was our eighteenth wedding anniversary this past Sunday. Joe gave me a green tractor. It is about 2" x 1" and I love it. It winds up and away it goes. In my mind, I can picture getting all my planting done in a DAY. Working compost into the earth? What a delight! Tilling? Pffft... done. Pulling a cart to pick up the harvest? Child's play.
*******I interrupt this dream with a REALITY CHECK: I was just out in the market garden - trying to get some more planting done. Ended up to my ankles in mud. SO will check again tomorrow and plant some here at the house in the raised beds.
I live in a constant state of panic now and find myself compulsively checking the weather forecast. I have it set up to show me what will happen hourly. HOURLY. How did market come up so fast?????
Joe and Isabelle helped plant some of the leeks this weekend. Joe was not aware that we'd be using long-handled tools to work the ground before planting. His comment 'What, are we Amish?' Not that there is anything wrong with being Amish. It's just that we are middle-aged and have been luxuriating in the absence of physical toil for several months now.
We have so much more to do! SOOOOOO many more onions and leeks and potatoes and cabbage and peas....
Oh, Oh.... there's a patch of blue... gotta go plant!
